MFA in Writing

Trinie Dalton, Faculty, MFA in Writing

As an artist, curator, and teacher, Trinie Dalton has conducted many bookmaking workshops that transform into exhibitions to display the results of her collaborations with participants. Performative components often entail Dalton’s slide lectures, hand-binding workshops, curatorial meetings about how to install and reproduce the work generated, and salon-style celebrations to conclude the projects.

Within universities, she has taught many courses with participatory publication components, which ideally result in printed matter invented by and brought to fruition by the class members. Zephyr, the department newspaper in SVA’s MFA in Art Criticism and Writing Program, is a recent example of a project that has acquired its own life outside the classroom through subsequent issues and editorial teams.
