F.J. Talley is an educator whose career has spanned four decades. Through the years, he has served as a Dean of Students, Associate Provost, and Vice President, in addition to being a small college President.

He has also served as a Dean of Enrollment Management, and supported strategic enrollment efforts at several institutions. While his career began in Student Affairs, he has also taught undergraduate Psychology and social justice courses at three schools, and graduate courses in Student Personnel and Higher Education at Rowan University.

As a writer, F.J. has independently published two novels: Twin Worlds, a space opera, and Take Hart, a police procedural. His short stories have appeared in several anthologies, including the 30th anniversary anthology for the Maryland Writers Association, and the 2021 anthology Asinine Assassins. F.J. also won the 2019 prize for fiction from the Gulf Coast Writers Association.

He lives with his family on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
