MFA in Visual Art Faculty Member Cauleen Smith receives new Ellsworth Kelly Award

Cauleen Smith, a faculty member in our MFA in Visual Art program, has been awarded the first ever Ellsworth Kelly Award.

The $40,000 Ellsworth Kelly Award, given through the Foundation of Contemporary Art, supports emerging, midcareer, and under-recognized artists by funding a solo exhibition of the winner’s work at a regional museum or university art gallery. The Ellsworth Kelly Foundation announced this month that it has donated $1 million to establish an endowment for this new contemporary art award.

As part of the award, an exhibition of Cauleen’s film, video, and sculpture work, curated by Anthony Elms, will be presented at the University of Philadelphia’s Institute of Contemporary Art in 2018.
