Public nominations now open for the 2018 Vermont Book Award
For the first time ever, the public is invited to nominate their favorite Vermont books for the 2018 Vermont Book Award.
From now until March 1, anyone can visit the Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) Vermont Book Award website and nominate their favorite fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or children’s literature collection for the fourth annual award.
To be nominated, a book must be a work of outstanding literary merit penned by a Vermont author and published by a reputable press in 2017. In previous years, books have been nominated by a committee of independent booksellers of Vermont, as well as by publishers.
“Our mission is to honor the literature of Vermont, and we want the public involved in the process,” said Miciah Bay Gault, coordinator of the Vermont Book Award, and director of the MFA in Writing & Publishing program at VCFA. “There are a surprising number of books published by Vermont writes every year, and they’re innovative, fresh, and aesthetically diverse—and Vermont’s readers have valuable opinions about which deserve recognition.”
