Kekla Magoon

Kekla Magoon writes fiction and non-fiction for middle grade and young adult readers.

Recent titles include How It Went Down, X: A Novel (written with Ilyasah Shabazz), Shadows of Sherwood (Robyn Hoodlum Adventures--Book 1), and Infinity Riders (Voyagers--Book 4). Kekla has been a National Book Award longlist finalist, and has received two ALA Coretta Scott King Honors, the John Steptoe New Talent Award, an NAACP Image Award, the Walter Award Honor, the In The Margins Award, and three NAACP Image Award nominations for her work.

Her books have been named ALA Notables, YALSA Best Books for Young Adults, Kirkus Reviews Best Books of the Year, Booklist Top Ten, and more. She conducts school and library visits nationwide, and serves on the Writers’ Council for the National Writing Project.
