Writing & Publishing student to appear in new Chicken Soup for the Soul anthology

Current MFA in Writing & Publishing student Jennifer Kathleen Gibbons will be featured in two essays in the latest Chicken Soup for the Soul anthology.

Cover artDue out May 1, 2018, Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Empowered Woman collects 101 stories from women of all ages and all walks of life to share their most encouraging, advice-filled stories with each other. The book is edited by Amy Newmark, with a forward by Joi Gordon.

One of Jennifer’s essays focuses on the then cold case surrounding the murder of 14-year-old Suzanne Bombardier in California in 1980. Driven by curiosity in 2013, she began researching Bombardier’s story on her blog, which led to stories in Salon and other national publications. Her work drew the attention of California investigators, who eventually solved the crime in December 2017. Jennifer’s work drew national attention at that time.
