Visiting Writer Alison Bechdel and VCFA President Thomas Christopher Greene to give reading on July 2
VCFA will host one of the college’s most anticipated events of the year on July 2 at 7 p.m. in Alumnx Hall.
Vermont writers Alison Bechdel, author of Fun Home, and Thomas Christopher Greene, VCFA President, will read from their latest works at this free and public event.
Alison is our visiting creative nonfiction writer for the MFA in Writing summer residency. She is a graphic novelist whose works include Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic and Are You My Mother? A Comic Drama, as well as the countercultural comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For.
Fun Home has been adapted into a Broadway musical and took home five Tony Awards in 2015, including Best Musical. Bechdel also received a “genius” grant from the MacArthur Foundation in 2014.
Tom, author of five novels including The Headmaster’s Wife, will read from his latest book, If I Forget You, which was released on June 14. His new novel tells the story of how two former lovers reconnect in this beautiful and haunting tale of great lost love. Written in lyrical prose, If I Forget You is at once a great love story, a novel of marriage, manners, and family, a meditation on the nature of art, a moving elegy to what it means to love and to lose, and how the choices we make can change our lives forever.
There is limited seating for this event, so please come to Alumnx Hall early. We hope to see you there!
