Scarlett Xin Meng‘s studio Related Department is an independent graphic design practice founded in Shanghai, working with a variety of design forms in response to shifting contexts of post-colonial and digital landscapes. While dedicated to alternative design approaches for image-making and textual production, we also initiate discourses and events like design criticism, exhibitions, distribution, consumption and beyond. We founded our self-publishing unit Page Bureau in 2018 and our research division est.dept in New York in 2022. Our work has been exhibited at Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, Power Station of Art in Shanghai, Queens Museum in New York, TDC Traveling Exhibitions, San Francisco Design Week, China Academy of Art, China Art Museum in Shanghai, Florence Biennale, etc.
