Prashanth Kamalakanthan is an Indian-American filmmaker, born in Tirupati, India, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Trained at NYU Graduate Film, Prashanth has previously been Filmmaker of the Year at Duke University and a Gotham Marcie Bloom Fellow in Film, and he has taught at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Reelworks in Brooklyn, and at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program, as well as having worked as a filmmaker at The New York Times, Mother Jones, The Nation, and elsewhere.

Currently, he teaches film theory and screenwriting at VCU and Brown University while on the festival circuit with his feature comedy-drama HAVE A NICE LIFE and in post-production on an upcoming feature.
