Alumna Lauren Markham (Writing, ’10) is a writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area and author of The Far Away Brothers: Two Young Migrants and the Making of an American Life (Crown, 2017).
Her fiction and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in The New Republic, Guernica, The American Literary Review, Narrative, The New York Times, Orion, Harper’s, and VQR, where she is a contributing editor. In addition to writing, she works at a school for immigrant youth in Oakland, California, and coordinates VCFA’s annual Slovenia residency.
