Kyung studied Communication Design at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design at Milwaukee WI., USA (BFA) and received his MFA in Design Management at Hongik-IDAS in Seoul, Korea. He currently divides his time between Toronto and Seoul.

The Hangul Helvetica Project
In September 2024, an exhibition documenting the ongoing development of a typeface took place at the KF Gallery in Seoul, Korea. The typeface was Sûsa60, a Korean typeface based on Helvetica, one of the most famous typefaces in the world. This presentation will summarize the approach of this typeface, the design attributes, and research needed to ‘translate’ one typeface into a different language. Also, work related to the project and images of the exhibition will be shown.
