VCFA Collaborates with For Freedoms for 50 State Initiative

As a part of the collaboration, VCFA will be producing a video art installation, which will include a sign-making event and panel discussion that correlate to the ideas in Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms. 

Selected work(s) will be shown in a public, outdoor screening and projected on to a building in Montpelier, VT. The screening will take place in early/mid-October—exact date TBA.

Submission Open Call, Guidelines & Eligibility

To apply, students must submit work correlate to the ideas in Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms affirming the inalienable human rights of:

  • Freedom of speech
  • Freedom of worship
  • Freedom from want
  • Freedom from fear

Selected work(s) will be shown in a public, out-door screening and projected on to a building in downtown Montpelier, VT. Screening in early/mid-October—exact date TBA.

Submission Guidelines & Eligibility

  • Deadline for submission: August 20, 2018
  • Fee: FREE
  • Artists must reside in VT full-time or be a current student/alumnx of VCFA
  • Entries must be no longer than 3 minutes in length
  • Total running time for accepted work must be no longer than 10 minutes
  • Applicants may submit up to 2 entries
  • Entries are submitted as direct links (YouTube, Vimeo, artist’s website etc.)
  • Applicants notified: early September 2018

VCFA Sign-Making Event

  • When: September 8, 2018, 3:00 – 4:30pm
  • Where: VCFA Campus, Noble Hall

We invite the community to a sign-making event on campus. Attendees are welcome to create signs that interpret Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms: affirming the inalienable human rights of freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. The signs generated in the event will be publicly displayed on the VCFA College green. Materials will be provided.

VCFA Panel Discussion

  • When: September 8, 2018, 4:30 – 6:00pm
  • Where: VCFA Campus, Noble Hall

Following the VCFA sign-making event, a panel discussion with artists, social activists, and educators on the topic of the role of art & contemporary democracy. GUESTS: TBA

For Freedoms started in 2016 as a platform for civic engagement, discourse, and direct action for artists in the United States.
