Ibi Zoboi and Rita Williams-Garcia make National Book Award shortlist

MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults alumna Ibi Zoboi ('14) and former WCYA faculty member Rita Williams-Garcia have made the shortlist for the 2017 National Book Award for Young People's Literature!


Angela Johnson Scholarship extended through 2020

Thanks to a generous donation from Barry Goldblatt, the Angela Johnson Scholarship for New Students of Color or Ethnic Minority is now extended through 2020.

MFA in WCYA Summer 2017 residency lecture series and public readings announced

The MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults summer residency starts Saturday, July 8 with a number of public readings scheduled, including the first Darrow Lecture Series event!


WCYA Announces Summer Visiting Writers

The MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults Program is pleased to announce that Julie Berry (’08), Anita Silvey, and Katherena Vermette will be on campus as Visiting Writers for the July 2017 residency. Students attending the concurrent residency abroad will be joined by British picture book creator Mini Grey for a day in Oxford.
