M.T. Anderson receives Horn Book Award honor
M.T. Anderson, a VCFA trustee and former MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adult faculty member, earned a Boston Globe-Horn Book Award Honor for his book Symphony for the City of the Dead: Dmitri Shostakovich and the Siege of Leningrad.
Anderson, a National Book Award winner, earned the Horn Book honor on June 2, 2016 for the nonfiction category. First presented in 1967 and customarily announced in June, the Boston Globe–Horn Book Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the field of children’s and young adult literature.
Symphony for the City of the Dead, published by Candlewick Press last year, has also been named a 2015 Notable Children’s Book by the New York Times and was a finalist for the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults.
