Risa Mickenberg is a writer and director, grappling with film, TV, advertising, fiction, humor, music, theater and the big questions.

Most recently, she wrote the screenplay for EGG, an anti-family comedy, starring Christina Hendricks, Alysia Reiner, Anna Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and David Alan Basche. “A whip-smart social satire with a piercingly sharp screenplay,” Chicago Sun-Times, “Explores motherhood in a surprisingly emotional way… shedding a special light on women who actively choose not to be mothers,” The Playlist. EGG premiered at the TriBeCa Film festival. It was made with female heads of every department & awarded the inaugural Women In Media & and The Arts Collaboration Award. She has written episodic comedy TV for HBO, written and adapted original screenplays and screenplays for hire. She’s made documentaries and worked on Michael Moore’s film CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY. She’s received fellowships from The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. She wrote and packaged the book Taxi Driver Wisdom (Chronicle Books).
