Profile
Rafael Attias is a post-disciplinary fine artist, art director, filmmaker, composer, curator, and educator.
Working within and on the peripheries of filmmaking, soundtrack composition, curation, design and art education, Rafael Attias activates research across disciplines. For over 27 years, his academic and artistic practice explores the deeper dimensions of media + arts along with the intersections of sound, science, art and design.
Rafael has served has the MFA in Film Program Director for VCFA, now an affiliate of CalArts, since 2022. He has been a faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design since 1998, where he has lead several interdisciplinary and research initiatives.
Rafael holds a BFA in Graphic Design from RISD, and an MFA in Film from VCFA.
