As part of its spring 2022 residency, the MFA in Film program will present a public screening of SOUTH MOUNTAIN, directed by visiting filmmaker Hilary Brougher, on Sunday, April 24, at the Savoy Theater in Montpelier and virtually on Zoom. The film asks, who are we without the people we love? Lila (Talia Balsam)  is an artist who teaches at a community college and has built a modest rural paradise in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her husband, Edgar (Scott Cohen). Soon after their teen daughters head off on summer adventures and Lila’s best friend Gigi (Andrus Nichols) begins chemotherapy, Edgar reveals he’s started a new family with another woman, leaving Lila alone for a season of explosive grief and self-rediscovery. View the trailer on YouTube.

The screening will begin at 7 pm ET, followed at 8:35 pm ET by a Q+A with Brougher. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Register now via the links below!
