Solo Piano Concert & Masterclass featuring Micah Pick
June
12
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
- This event has passed.
Come and join us for a livestream performance of VCFA student & alumnx composers’ piano solos, performed by MFA in Music Composition alumnx Micah Pick ’23 on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 pm ET. These will be compositions written specifically for this event, focusing on shorter works, or miniatures for solo piano with or without electronics.
After the concert there will be a masterclass-style feedback session, where Micah will review the pieces and provide feedback on the composers’ writing for the piano, giving them an opportunity for both a performance and more tangible insight into how to improve at writing for the instrument.
Everyone is welcome to attend the concert and the feedback session afterward. Please note that attention will be on the composers with presented works during the second part.

About Micah
Micah Pick (MC ‘23) is a classically trained musician based in Bedford, Virginia (USA) who works as a collaborative pianist and music educator. These themes explore the surprise at finding unexpected joy even at our darkest moments when our worst fears are realized and facing the unique stresses of adulthood by retaining a sense of childlike joy.
Micah recently put out Frameworks, an ambient electronic and piano album that was released on Audiobulb Records. One of the tracks from Frameworks, Broken Trellis, has been selected to be presented at the New York Society for Electro Acoustic Music (NYSEM) this June.
He will be premiering a new piece for solo saxophone and electronics at SPLICE in June.
