On Wednesday, August 4, at 4 pm ET the MFA in Music Composition program will present a composer-performer-improviser showcase as part of its summer residency. This event features work by composer-improvisers whose defining elements reside in performance by improvising musicians and that highlight the composer as improviser. These pieces, though performable by anyone, are illuminated by being heard in the composer’s hand/voice/mind. The event will be livestreamed on the VCFA Music Composition YouTube channel.
