In this solo performance ritual, New Orleans born-and-raised flutist and singer-songwriter, kei slaughter will present an interactive set of improvised compositions exploring queer Black lifeworlds, ancestral memory, and beyond. The musical space is living, co-created with the audience as guests are invited to actively engage in the creative experience. A reverently rebellious child of the Black Church, kei brings the gospel of freedom frequencies to listeners becoming participants in their own radical authenticity. This performance is dedicated to the late Diane Moser, an incredible jazz pianist/composer and a cherished member of the VCFA community.
