"Do You Know Me?" by Scott Barkan ('16)

Scott Barkan's "Do You Know Me?" explores the terrain that exists between the worlds of chamber music and popular songwriting.

The piece draws inspiration from the work of 20th century composer Ludmila Ulehla, who happens to be Barkan's grandmother, and his attempt to find common ground between their disparate styles. The text deals with themes of isolation and longing for human connection in our increasingly disconnected world.
