Maggie Stiefvater (photo by Robert Severi)Maggie Stiefvater is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the novels Shiver, Linger, Forever, and Sinner. Her novel The Scorpio Races was named a Michael L. Printz Honor Book by the American Library Association. The first book in The Raven Cycle, The Raven Boys, was a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year, and the second book, The Dream Thieves, was an ALA Best Book for Young Adults. She is also an artist and musician.

Maggie will read on Wednesday, July 13 from 7:45pm-8:45pm with WCYA Faculty Members Mary Quattlebaum and Liz Garton Scanlon. The readings will take place in the College Hall Chapel.

April Pulley SayreApril Pulley Sayre is an award-winning author/photo-illustrator best known for her lyrical, read aloud science. She has published over sixty books, including the beloved Stars Beneath Your Bed: the Surprising Story of Dust, which was recast and rewritten after looking at the sunrise through a dusty window in a Vermont College dorm during her MFA-WC (2000). Her recent works include Raindrops Roll, an ALA Notable/Orbis Pictus Honor book; and The Slowest Book Ever, a middle grade science book. With illustrator Steve Jenkins she created the ALA Notable picture books Woodpecker Wham, Eat Like a Bear, and Vulture View, a Theodor Geisel Honor Book.

April will give a talk entitled Wild Words: Playing With Nonfiction Voice in the College Hall Chapel on Tuesday, July 12 from 1:15pm-2:15pm. Her talk will be a peek behind-the-scenes at wrestling with nonfiction voice & structure while embracing weather, words, and wildlife.
