Mosher, who passed away in January 2017, was the award-winning author of 13 books of fiction and nonfiction that mostly took place in and around Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Points North, published by St. Martin’s Press, was Mosher’s last work completed just a few weeks before his passing.

The  launch party will serve as a celebration of Mosher’s life. VCFA President and Vermont author Thomas Christopher Greene will be joined by writers Richard Russo, Don Bredes, Chris Bohjalian, Garret Keizer, Robin MacArthur, and Jake Mosher, Howard’s son.

Montpelier’s Bear Pond Books will be on hand to sell Points North and will also be carrying a selection of books by all of the attending writers.

“I am so honored that VCFA is hosting the book launch for Howard Frank Mosher, who was a longtime friend of mine and the College. Howard really championed Vermont literature and Vermont writers, perhaps more than anyone before him. I look forward to joining Howard’s friends and family on February 8 to remember this great man and to celebrate his wonderful, final book about his beloved Northeast Kingdom,” Greene said.

According to St. Martin’s Press, “In Points North, Mosher presents a brilliant, lovingly-evoked collection of stories that center around the Kinneson family, ranging over decades of their history in the Kingdom. From a loquacious itinerant preacher who beguiles the reticent farmers and shopkeepers of a small New England town, to a proposed dam that threatens the river that Kinneson men have fished for generations, the scandalous secret of a romance and its violent consequences, and a young man’s seemingly fruitless search for love―Points North is a full-hearted, gently-comic, and beautifully-written last gift to the readers who treasure Howard Frank Mosher.”
