How do I continue to support VCFA? What initiatives will my donations support given this change?

Vermont College of Fine Arts is privileged to have alumnx and donors who see the immediate impacts of financially supporting the college. By investing in this innovative change, donor contributions will directly support VCFA’s mission and values. This change will also allow VCFA to fully align our fundraising priorities with the strategic priorities of the college: supporting our academic programs and student scholarships, as well as the college’s commitment to equity and empowerment, lifelong support for our alumnx, and the Center for Arts + Social Justice at VCFA.

What will happen to the campus?

Vermont College of Fine Arts is assessing the highest and best use for the buildings on the Montpelier campus. While VCFA currently has seven tenants and would like to see these organizations stay on campus and thrive, we are excited by the prospect of sharing this campus resource with the local community in ways that will benefit a broader spectrum of people and additional uses, such as housing, schools, and other mission-aligned organizations. However, the full scope of that use is not strictly defined at this time.

How will changes to the VCFA Montpelier campus impact the N’dakinna ancestral land?

As guests in N’dakinna, we recognize the dispossession and marginalization of Indigenous communities, and the resiliency they’ve shown in response. As we look towards the best and highest use of our Montpelier campus, we are committed to continuing to find ways to honor these lands and its peoples.
