Mike Rivas is the Program Director for the MFA in Writing program.

Over the last 24 years he has worked at a variety of academic institutions across the country holding enrollment and admissions, student affairs, and faculty positions. As a higher education professional, Mike has dedicated his career to guiding and empowering student’s academic, professional, and personal growth and development.

In addition to his career as a higher ed professional, Mike is a working artist that has developed bodies of work in multiple media including video, sculpture, performance, photography, drawing, and painting. He grew up in the Los Angeles/Pasadena area of Southern California, but has lived in Mexico, the Mid west, and New England. Mike currently lives in rural Arkansas with his wife and son where he spends his free time in the studio, in the kitchen cooking, helping out on the family farm, reading, and watching the Dodgers on TV whenever possible.
