Written during a Picture Book Intensive semester when Brown was a student, Slickety Quick won the Candlewick Picture Book Award in 2012. This annual WCYA scholarship is awarded to the best picture book manuscript submitted, as judged by the editors at Candlewick Press. Candlewick funds this award and receives right of first refusal to the winning manuscript.
