Our winter MFA in Writing residency returns at the end of the month and a number of visiting writers will be on hand to give public readings and presentations in the Chapel at College Hall.
The residency runs from Dec. 28, 2016 - Jan. 8, 2017.
Dec. 31, 7 p.m.: Distinguished Visiting Faculty Member Xu Xi.
Xu has written numerous books including this year's That Man in Our Lives and the forthcoming Elegy for HK and Insignificance: Stories of Hong Kong. She's also a former faculty member at VCFA, serving one term as MFA in Writing faculty chair.
Jan. 2, 4:45 p.m.: Alumna Creative Nonfiction Writer Jericho Parms.
Parms is the author of Lost Wax, which was published this fall. She is the Associate Director of the MFA in Writing program at VCFA and teaches in the Professional Writing Program at Champlain College.
Jan. 3, 7:15 p.m.: Visiting Poet Kyle Dargan.
Dargan is the author of four collections of poetry, including his most recent publication Honest Engine. He is currently an Associate Professor of Literature and Director of Creative Writing at American University.
Jan. 4, 11 a.m.: Visiting Translator J. Kates.
Kates a poet, literary translator, and president and co-director of Zephyr Press. He has translated numerous books, including most recently Muddy River, a selection of poems by Sergey Stratanovsky.
Jan. 4, 7 p.m.: Visiting Alumni Poet Richard Michelson.
Michelson is the recipient of a 2016 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship for his latest poetry collection, More Money than God. In 1982 Michelson was the very first recipient of a Vermont College MFA in Poetry degree.
