Alexander Chee

Alexander Chee is the bestselling author of the novels Edinburgh (2001) and The Queen of the Night (2016). His essay collection, How To Write An Autobiographical Novel, is forthcoming from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in April of 2018. 

Alexander is a contributing editor at The New Republic, an editor at large at Virginia Quarterly Review, and a critic at large at the Los Angeles Times. His essays and stories have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, T Magazine, Tin House, Slate, Guernica, and Best American Essays 2016, among others.

He is winner of a 2003 Whiting Award, a 2004 NEA Fellowship in prose and a 2010 MCCA Fellowship, and residency fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the VCCA, Civitella Ranieri and Amtrak. He teaches fiction writing and the essay as an associate professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College.
