William Alexander and Kekla Magoon To Read at VCFA April 28th

The MFA in Writing & Publishing is proud to present a reading by faculty members William Alexander and Kekla Magoon. Join MFA in Writing & Publishing students, faculty, and the community for a reading by award-winning authors of middle-grade fiction by two of the most exciting voices in children's lit today.

William AlexanderWilliam Alexander is a National Book Award-winning, New York Times best-selling author of middle-grade fantasy and science fiction. Additional honors include an Eleanor Cameron Award, an Earphones Award, a Junior Library Guild Selection, two CBC Best Children's Book of the Year Awards, and some finalist love from the International Latino Book Award. His novels and audiobooks include Goblin Secrets, Ghoulish Song, Ambassador, Nomad, and the forthcoming A Properly Unhaunted Place. He studied theater and folklore at Oberlin College, English at the University of Vermont, and creative writing at Clarion. He now teaches at the Vermont College of Fine Arts program in Writing for Children and Young Adults.

Kekla MagoonKekla Magoon is the author of nine novels, including The Rock and the River, How It Went Down, X: A Novel (with Ilyasah Shabazz), and the Robyn Hoodlum Adventures series. She has received an NAACP Image Award, the John Steptoe New Talent Award, two Coretta Scott King Honors, The Walter Award Honor, the In the Margins Award, and been longlisted for the National Book Award. She also writes non-fiction on historical topics. Kekla conducts school and library visits nationwide and serves on the Writers’ Council for the National Writing Project. Kekla holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, where she now serves on faculty.
