Sean Prentiss wins Utah Book Award; new anthology out Nov. 17

MFA in Writing & Publishing faculty member Sean Prentiss recently won the Utah Book Award in the nonfiction category.

Finding AbbeySean won for his nonfiction book Finding Abbey: The Search for Edward Abbey and His Hidden Desert Grave (University of New Mexico Press).  In Finding Abbey, “Prentiss combines an account of his quest to find environmental writer Edward Abbey's secret grave with a creative biography of Abbey. The author draws upon research, travel, and interviews with some of Abbey's closest friends as he attempts to unravel Abbey's complicated legacy,” according to the UNM press release. 

Finding Abbey won the 2015 National Outdoor Book Award and was a 2016 finalist for the Vermont Book Award. 

Sean’s next project, Environmental and Nature Writing: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology, comes out on Nov. 17, 2016 from Bloomsbury Publishing. “Offering guidance on writing poetry, nonfiction, and fiction, Environmental and Nature Writing is a complete introduction to the art and craft of writing about the environment in a wide range of genres,” according to Bloomsbury. Sean edited the anthology along with Joe Wilkins.
