Tere Dávila / Visiting Writer, Winter 2018

Tere Dávila of San Juan, Puerto Rico is the author of the short story collections El fondillo maravilloso and Lego. In 2016 she won the National Prize for Short Fiction, for Aquí están las instrucciones, as well as the National Prize for Novel, for her first novel, Nenísimas.

She has also published children’s books, books on Puerto Rican culture and her short story El fondillo maravilloso was adapted into an award-winning short film.  

Her short stories have been published in various national and international anthologies and have been translated into English in San Juan Noir (part of the noir series of Akashic Books, 2016) and Palabras: Dispatches from the Festival de la Palabra (No Passport Press, 2013).

In 2017, she received the Nuevas Voces Award, given by the Festival de la Palabra in conjunction with La Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara.
