MFA in Film Alum Martin Castaneda's film screens at 2016 ITVFest

Martin Castaneda’s (’16) JOAN IN OWL LAND is an official selection at the 2016 ITVFest in West Dover, VT.

Martin’s magical realist short follows an imaginative girl set to bring her father back with the help of the Owl Thing. It screened in the MFA in Film’s Class of Spring 2016 Thesis Exhibition this past April. Watch a trailer of JOAN IN OWL LAND and learn more about ITVFest, which runs October 5-9th. VCFA's MFA in Film is a proud sponsor of the 2016 ITVFest. JOAN IN OWLAND also represents a collaboration between Martin and MFA in Music Composition student Bradley Turner ('17), who composed and scored the music for the short film.

Martin has also seen his Written By Victors become an official selection of the 2016 International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema Berlin in the category of Unproduced Scripts. This feature script tells the story of a dreamy South American man’s ambition to become a stage actor that leads him into war in Iraq.

Congratulations, Martin!
