Till Schauder wrote, directed and photographed the feature documentary THE IRAN JOB, an internationally released critical success and audience favorite.
THE IRAN JOB made several best-film-of-the-year lists and was mentioned in the press as a potential Academy Awards contender in the U.S. before being shortlisted for the German Academy Awards in 2014.
In 2014 Schauder also received the prestigious Gerd-Ruge Stipendium for his new project WHEN GOD SLEEPS, which is currently in production and for which he also received funding from Sundance, The Catapult Film Fund, Fork Films, FFA, WDR and others. In 2015 his screenplay for WHEN GOD SLEEPS was recommended for a German Academy Award. Also in 2015 Schauder directed THE YOUNG MAN AND THE SEA for ZDF.
Before he started making documentaries Schauder wrote and directed the award-winning feature films SANTA SMOKES (ARD), STRONG SHIT (ARD), and the acclaimed short action thriller CITY BOMBER. Schauder is also an actor with short appearances in the HBO Mini-Series Mildred Pierce starring Kate Winslet and the HBO Series Vinyl, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger.
In 1998, after earning a government grant for the arts, Schauder relocated from Berlin to New York and made his U.S. directorial and acting debut with the romantic comedy SANTA SMOKES, which won several international awards, among them Best Director at the Tokyo International Film Festival. His next film, a docu-drama called DUKE'S HOUSE about Duke Ellington’s Harlem home premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Schauder teaches film at NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies and is a frequent guest speaker at other film schools. His honors include winner of the ARD “Top of The Docs” Competition, Winner Paley Center for Media Documentary Pitch competition, Studio Hamburg Newcomer Award, Audience Award at the Berlin Beta Film Festival, DAAD Scholarship for the Arts, International Max Ophüls Film Festival Reader’s Award, Jury Award at the Kelibia International Film Festival/Tunisia, Audience Award at the Göttinger Filmfestival.
